can i use other medicine for herpes other than valtrex?

I recently lost my health ins. coverage and I want to know if there is any cheaper medicine or generics. or remedies to help me control herpes. Now i am unable to purchase anything and I really need it. any help and i will be greatful. thanks.
There are a few different medications to treat herpes. Valtrex is the most expensive.
Have your doctor prescribe you acyclovir. It has been around for a LONG time so it’s pretty cheap now. I use acyclovir when I get an outbreak or "feel" an outbreak coming on.
There is also Famvir (generic name: famciclovir).
I have personally used acyclovir and famciclovir for outbreaks and they both work fine.

Personal experience. I have had genital herpes for 6 years. I’m also a pharmacy tech for a hospital.

acyclovir $ take more frequent doses daily
famvir $$$
valtrex $$$$
all are effective

l use zirovax tabltes work very well and l think are the cheapest
