How far along has the U.S. scientific and Medical industry come with a cure for herpes and other std’s?

Curious because i plan on getting into the medical field and maybe i could learn a little more
i have heard that they are working on some sort of vaccine. my dad saw something in a magazine called Scientific America. they are having trouble seperating the protiens of the virus from the blood. there are medications to treat herpes but not to cure it yet.

We have treatment for herpes and HIV – but no cure.
We have cures for the majority of other STDs.

I don’t know but I pray it is soon! I would love to enjoy a "normal" life again!
