Right now, i am 34 weeks pregnant and my doctor prescribed me 200mg of acyclovir 5 times a day for 5 days. 2 yrs ago, my doctor prescribed me 500mg of Valtrex once a day for years but when i went to OB/GYN, she said do not take it regularly. Take it when it outbreaks 2 of 500mg 3 times a day for 3 days. Because the medicine will not be good for kidneys and liver, she asked me to take it only when the symptoms show or outbreak. She also asked me to take vitamins regularly and which will help me to reduce stress and herpes outbreak. So, ask your doctor which option is good for you!<br><b>References : </b><br> it depends. Alternative regimens have included doses ranging from 200 mg three times daily to 200 mg five times daily. The frequency and severity of episodes of untreated genital herpes may change over time.
